Default del Sol exhaust systems

My sister just got a '94 del Sol VTEC and she wants to upgrade the exhaust. She wants an exhaust that is quiet similar to the RS*R Ex-Mag, A'PEXi WS2, or GReddy SP2.

I've heard bad things about GReddy exhaust not lasting over a year.

Just wondering what you del Sol owners recomend and what you guys have on your del Sol right now.

Thanks in advance!

I don't think they make the WS2 for the del Sol, though.

I went to the RS R website and they don't have the del Sol listed.

It's hard finding exhausts that fit the del Sol that are quiet. Can anyone help me out?

i recommend custom... just buy the muffler and take it to a muffler shop its always hard for the del sol, its a discontinued and unpopular car.

What mufflers fit. We need something quiet like the RS*R Ex-Mag or A'PEXi WS2.

Maybe the knock-off twin loop?

I have a Tanabe SRM...a bit loud, tho.

OK, it's time to hear a good thing about a GReddy exhaust. I've had my SP2 for longer than that, and aside from a little discoloration from putting 20xxx miles on it, it still looks/sounds the way it did when I installed it.

I highly recommend it. Pleasant tone but quiet enough when you're cruising, and it has a deep growl when you step on it. BTW, that's when I only a short-ram intake and DC 4-2-1 header. Now I'm running a Drag turbo kit that keeps it so quiet that you can't even tell I'm running a test-pipe instead of a cat.

That's good. I know they make the SP2 for the del Sol.

i had a greddy evo for a couple years before i sold my sol. it started sounding raspy after about a year, but didn't blow out till after about 3 years. it did start rusting after about 2 years though. lowered and driving on salty *** winter roads in ohio doesn't help either. no experience with the SP2. i recommend just picking out a nice muffler, taking it to a local muffler shop and just getting them to fab up the piping. will come out cheaper, and might even come with some sort of a warranty. with bolt up kits like greddy, apexi, etc. you are paying a lot for the ease of installation, the name, and shipping.

Sorry I didn't elaborate. I'm driving a '94 del Sol VTEC, and my SP2 bolted right on, no problem. Just be careful if you have a rear lip because it might push against it, vibrating sometimes at idle, and possibly making it just the smallest bit lopsided. Just a minor concern.

I'm in SoCal so I couldn't tell you, but I hear problems with practically any kind of aftermarket/custom exhaust on salted roads and at the beach.

Heck yeah, and I'll continue to do it happily.

Well, I think we might look into the SP2. I don't think salt will be an issue because she's not going on a beach and it never snows in Florida, so you guys think it'll be alright?

the best looking and sounding exhaust for the del sol is hands down the tanabe racing medallion exhaust

ive had the tanabe racing medallion and greddy sp

the tanabe racing medallion on my brothers sol is close to 5 years old and still looks and sounds brand new. The piping has never rusted and the car used to be in chicago and is now in missouri. Only thing hes had to replace is the cat.

Tanabe racing medallion sounds better then my greddy sp. Its a slight tad deeper and but it is indeed louder. and that was on a d16

i have a greddy sp on my b18c "r" del sol. It sounds quite at low rpms and gets loud up top but most the noise is my motor. The exhaust is actually rather quite. The piping has held up great, no complaints really. Its a nice looking, quite exhaust. I plan on keeping my greddy sp because its nice and quiet, i get to hear the noises of my motor instead of a fart can. It will get even better when im boosted and hear my turbo and wastegate/bov instead of a wining fart pipe.

If you want looks and sound id go with a Tanabe Racing Medallion. If you want looks but something quite. Go with greddy sp.

btw: my greddy sp exhaust is easily 3+ years old

edit: saw you want something decently quite, with that in mind id go with a greddy sp. Do not get a test pipe. Test pipe will make it raspy as hell, loud as hell, and car will smell like crap.

if you do get a high-flow, get a carsound high-flow cat. Im running 1 of these on my greddy sp exhaust. sounds the same as before but saw a power increase on the dyno.

I really appriciate the feedback on the GReddy exhaust systems. I will definitly look into getting the SP2 for the del Sol because of the quietness of the system.

My next question: I've usually got most of my parts through inlinefour.com. Would it be better to get a brand new one or look for a used one?

My last question: If I choose to get a brand new exhaust, where would you guys recomend to get it from?

Edit: The GReddy SP2 is a cambered exhaust, right?
