cool video of how vacuum infusion works in manufacturing infused carbon fiber stuff
I made a small video of how vacuum infusion is done to manufacture carbon fiber products. Most companies open mold parts, but this will give you an idea of how more advanced manufacturing processes are done with closed molding.
Everything is stuck in the molds dry and put under emense vacuum pressure. At the right time we then inject the resin into it. We can control the resin from our tubes to make sure you put just the right amount in. Any excess is sucked out. Most carbon parts are really resin rich. This makes them heavy and pretty brittle. We were making some DC fuel pump covers in the video. Also when we made the video we did not know there was sound
I didn't say anything dumb but I would have explained a little of what was going on if I knew there was sound. The video is of us infusing the product and you can see the resin travel through it.
