Default 05 s2000 vs 06 s2000...Opinons on the traction control issue...

To sum up my story, i can get into a brandnew 06 for less than two-thousand more dollars then getting a leftover 05...

My main concern is the traction control. I have not driven an 06 yet, but i keep hearing mixed reviews.

Anyway have opinions?

As long as its transparent or has an off switch which it does id say why not? If you factor in the 05 is a 1 year old car and has already lost over that much in value 2000 is nothing.

But you also have to remember the 06 has fugly seats and rims and a weird texture on the steering wheel H. Of course none of that has anything to do with VSA or TC but they are still ugly.

j/k

My opinion: They ruined the car three years ago.

As long as the traction control can be turned off, I don't think it's a big deal.

Easy fix= Pull motor, build it, and paint the car black or white.

Just curious but IYO how did they ruin it?
The Ap2 handles better has a bit more elbow room, the interior has two useless cup holders instead of one, and the rims look a bit like Work emotions with an edge to it.
Honda gave it a more agressive front and rear clip revised the gearing and gave it a bigger more torquey motor. If your one sole reason for saying its ruined is because they lowered the redline then i guess 9000 rpms is really "that" important to you. 9k rpm is a novel thing but ill gladly take more Hp/easier to drive any day over more revs.

None of us are Aryton Sennas/Jenson Buttons and the S2000 isnt that raw of a sports car.

i look at it this way...

the s2000 was made to rev to 9k, and be a two seat sports car...the 9k redline made the car. once onda droped that, it ruined the s2000 for what it was made to be...

the ap2 i hated personally, but then i drove one for myself. honda did a great job on keeping it balanced...nothing is really lost, and nothing is gained IMO...the only thing the ap2 has is cosmetic appeal, because even with the 2.2 their is no HP increase...

I lost my 9k redline when I bought my stroker. So, that's not it.

I don't like the look of the 04 up. I could care less for the wheels and front bumper. IMHO, I think the rear looks like some cheap, "ricer" body kit.
I don't like the gauge cluster layout or the radio door.

The softened suspension leaves me with something to yearn for. I bought the S2000 for it's nimbleness, and "raw" nature of the car.

Is the AP2 a bad car? No, not at all. It's still a great car. But, it is not the AP1. The AP1 is what got me excited, what made me want one, what made me actually buy it.

The new stuff on the 06........

The reason I bought an 03 instead of the 05.

lmao...they ruined it with the AP2? Thats awesome...they knock off a little bit of powerband and retain the performance aspects of the car, made it a little more daily drivable but just as fast...and its ruined? hahaha...oh well, opinions are opinions.

so, why does the japanese s2000 still have the F20c?

my guess, the average american car consumer wants to know they have TORQUE(its still a honda though), yummy torque. sadly, bore is what makes hp, not stroke, and the car is barely any faster, along with having to shift earlier than the f20c.

Accually they dont. With the new 06's they have the 2.2 now as well.

There is nothing wrong with having an opinion that the AP1 is better than the AP2 for whatever reason...but when you make the statement that it was ruined in 2004, it becomes silly.

Ive said it a hundred times now and i think it still holds true...the difference between the AP1 and AP2 is like the difference between having a million dollars in $100 dollar bills and a million dollars in $1,000 dollar bills.
