Default Transmission? or Idle?

if i stop at a red light or somthing, my car shakes, but if i put it into park or nuetral it dosnt shake as much

its a 1990 accord dx automatic

i agree with P_ chk the motor mounts mostly rear and frt ,,if broken replace accordingly ,if mounts are ok,, make sure you get vacc at rear motor mount diaphram below 750 rpm ,, if u dont get vacc chk hose,+ solenoid operation..if u get vac. hook up a vacc pump to diaphram and make sure it holds vaccuum..if not replace rear mount

Link shows rear motor mount operation ..also check the top of the front subframe'dogbone' mount, they go bad a lot as well; the 5speed 'dogbone' is the same size as the automatic type but has stiffer rubber in it. price is the same

An additional hint for ID'ing a bad Rear Engine Mount.

the Vibration when in Reverse will be far worst than in neutral or forward.

It will be bad enough to Rattle Teeth, Blur Vision, Shake parts from the car (particularly the front bumper) and cause women to take their children off the streets. Dogs will disappear, birds will fall silent and the local EMS office will raise the threat level to Orange!

Get it checked out before the Earth opens up
