Will this tranny work?

I was wondering if a Tranny from a 92 DX 5spd Hatch would work on my car?I have 91 STD 4spd 1.5L Hatch.A friend is swapping in a D16Y8 and tranny and asked if i wanted his old one.I know it's better to go with a SI, but for now i would like anything more than this damn 4spd

92 and up tranies use a hydraulic clutch, 91 and below use a cable clutch, the amount of work it would take to convert your car to hydro wouldn't be worth it IMO.
