d16z6 intake manifold swap
i have a 90 si hatch which remains stock for the moment. i heard that there are good power gains on the d16a6 when you throw on a d16z6 IM/TB and get a good cam. I picked up a z6 IM and have a question about how to put it on. I set the z6 IM next to my a6 IM and it seems like all the things hook up at about the same points except for a few.
my question is this swap just plug and play or is there somethings i need to change before i can put the IM on.
all feedback is greatly appreciated

i think you can use the manifold but you have to use a obd-0 tb because of the map sensor setup. you could get a b series tb that is obd0
(waiting to be corrected)

or you could extend the map sensor wires to reach the tb. another thing youll run into is the fuel injectors. you can re use your obd0 ones that would be the easyest way. everthing else should plug in.

i plan on using my original injectors until i get my 450cc dsm injectors (boosting soon)
so your saying if i can extend the map sensor wires to reach i can re-use everything from the d16a6 IM?
Also does anyone know if the z6 fuel rail will work and if it has any more flow then the a6 rail? thanks

the manifold will bolt up just fine, and you will need to use the z6 fuel rail to be able to bolt it back down. stick with the obd0 injectors, throttle body, and map sensor unless you have an ecu that is running obd1. the throttle body is pretty much the same between the two motors, except for the throttle position sensor, so just use the a6 throttle body. that will also line up the coolant hoses better. if you really want to use the obd1 map sensor and throttle body, you can switch the tps between the two, but you will need to use that obd0 tps or your car will not run correctly. good luck.
it fits, you just don't use all four mounting bolts. the back bottom stud i believe is in a different spot, but everything else lines up and you won't have any leaking problems or anything else if you use just the three that line up. i put an a6 tb on a z6 manifold for a friends car and he didn't have any problems with it. just make sure you have a new gasket for it and you are good to go.

i recomend using the z6 tb and extend your map sensor to the tb
then you can ditch that vacuum box on the firewall
i have a y8 int mani with z6 tb still obd-0 running fine
i also am using obd 1 tps

i just did this yesterday. i bought a crx with a d15b and it had a p08 intake mani witch is the same as a z6 and it would not idle right it would only idle at 2k i messed with it for like 3 days and couldint fix it so yesterday i bought a pm6 intake and put it on and it idles at about 800 smooth now...
the idle on the pm6 is controled by vacuum and the p08 is electric... if you are gona switch intake manifolds i would switch to obd1 first of its never gona idle correctly.....
it also seemed like i got more power from the pm6
p.s. it keept throwing a map sensor code... so i pluged the map sensor in that was on the t/b and it was still throwing the code and idleing high... it might just be a coincidence tho
