Transmission Swap question
I have 92 teg LS with a YS1 tranny that is shot to hell, I can only shift from 1st to 4th which isn't much fun. I went to a salvage yard and scooped up a S1 tranny from another DA. My question is are they interchangeable? Also any difference between the S1 and the YS1 tranny besides the YS1 having weak synchros or do they both have the same problem?
I have a complete LS gearset that ytou can buy off of me if you would like......you can install it directly in without any problems
actually, it is missing the LS 5th gear, it has a GSR 5th gear.

What the hell kind of answer is that? He asked if the transmissions were interchangable because he already got a new one, not asking if anyone had a gearset for sale.
Yes, the transmissions are interchangable. There are a few very informative threads on here regarding the differences between the S1 and YS1. If you do a quick search a lot comes up for it.

Thanks, I've searched just haven't come up with anything maybe you could post a link, but on the generation 2 Integra forum someone said I would need to change the clutch disc for it to work, just trying to get a 2nd opinion.

a very good one.....it keeps him from stepping down to an inferior transmission.
from what I read, he was wanting to swap internals, after a second read, he is wanting to change the entire trans.
The S1 has a completely different synchro system and the input shaft diameter is different. You will need to buy a new clutch disc with the smaller diameter spline. Aside from that, it is plug and play.
The synchro's are not "weaker" in the YS1, they are actually better......why do you think that Honda did away with teh S1 and Y1 transmissions and went with the YS1? As a matter of fact, the 94-01 transmission internals are not very different.....hence why you can install a complete 94-01 B-series gearset into a YS1 case without any modification at all. The only thing that you have to do any modification for is if you are installing an ITR LSD and all you have to do is take a grinder and remove about 1/8" of material from a couple windage fins inside the clutch housing.

thanks for the info, looks like I'll be returning the S1 didn't want to buy a clutch disc that wouldn't work with the stock tranny anyways, because I may rebuild it with gear speed parts.
