2006 accord questions
i just recently got a 2006 accord coupe EX 4cylinder, and i was wondering if there are any aftermarket parts available for it yet and/or if any of the previouse model accord has any interchangable parts with the newmodel...
i know there is a K&N CAI but is there anything other than that?
i havent looked at the previouse model accord engine bay, but i can tell u my 2006 engine bay has room for atleat a whole nother engine heh. just too much room to leave it stock.
thx in advance
my family owns a 95 accord lx 4d, 96 accord ex 4d, 2003 oddesy, 2006 accord ex 2d

He's not being funny, but it's apocryphal information.
There are people who claim to have dyno'd their K motors that are certified for 87 octane after running them on premium for several tanks, and they say they do get a few more HP. It's not beyond all conjecture that a modern computer would be able to slowly advance the spark until it detects that it should go no further, and then alter the throttle position and air and fuel ratio to take advantage of it, and then start the process over again.
You'll have to judge for yourself whether 20 cents/gallon is worth 5 HP.
The problem is that it takes several tanks before you get the full effect, and the problem is that it takes only ONE contaminating 87 octane tank to lose the effect because the computer will have an immediate panic reaction when it detects that the air/fuel/spark changes it has made over a couple of months are now dangerous because of the reduced octane.
Now, once again this is apocryphal information. They say it works, but I have only seen it work on the K20A3 motors in the USDM EP3 Si and DC5 "normal" RSX variants.
You might be interested in knowing that the K24 motor in your Accord received a performance increase for 2006. When you take into account the change in the way the 2006 motors are rated, the real world net gain is something like 15 HP.

wow awsome, thanks for the usefull info, ill let u know once i feel any power increase, i might go the next few tanks on premium just to c if second or third tank makes me rip harder! haha
i had no clue of the 2006 performance increase but im glad i know that now
but are any of the 2005 accord engine mods interchangable with the 2006? like a short ram or CAI or anything along the 'weak mod' list
i know for sure a intake will make my car sound sooo much better, because honda's rev highhhhh, or maybe its just my heavy foot

i had 3 people in my car total and i definately felt some power pouring out of my car
before it didnt rip as hard with 3 people, this time i actually noticed a difference in acceleration UPHILL
is awsome sofar, still got about half a tank to go thru

Any of the older engine parts should work. As far as internals I would say no because Honda did tweak a few more ponies out of it. Untill you can find out what they changed i would just stay on the outside.
