My new 4 door project Need some help.
Ok here is the deal. I recently fell into a 1991 4 door ef. It has an auto tranny, and is bone stock. 131k miles and a fair amount of rust. I also recently fell into a totaled 1997 civic ex with stock motor (forged internals 9:1) and a custom turbo kit that put down roughly 200whp untuned. I plan on putting this motor into the ef, as well as swapping as many parts over as possible.
Here are the questions i have.
1. What parts can swap over from the 1997 to the 1991 besides the motor? (What i mean by this is brakes, suspension, seats, dash, anything)
2. How difficult is the engine swap process? The 1997 civic is currently running a blue box and is still obd2...I would like to convert it to obd1, and run uberdata because i know how to tune with it.
Thanks guys, I'm not new to honda-tech, but i am very new to the older EF models, so help a noob out

Well, I don't know much about what parts can swap besides the engine. But the engine swap itself is not too difficult. The Y8 in that car swaps in basically the same way as a Z6 from a 1992-1995 EX. In other words, you just need to get a 1988-1991 manual transmission to bolt to the motor and use the stock driver's side bracket. And, of course, you are going to have to swap in a manual transmission pedal cluster along with a clutch cable. But that's about it. The swap is pretty basic otherwise.

Matt is right.
Aside from the brakes and the engine, the car is pretty much useless to you.
If you've got the whole car, make your life easier and just run it OBDII.
Swap over the ENTIRE wiring harness and everything.
Keep your cable transmission though, unless yuo want to build a custom mount for the hydro transmission, run a hydraulic line and fit a master cylinder on your firewall.

Yep, you're going to need a cable D series.
And a 5 speed pedal set.
And shift linkage.
And a rear transmission mount, a front transmission mount, and the frame rail transmission mount for the D series cable transmission.
I just did a 5 speed swap on my '89 LX. Went pretty smooth!

You can swap the dash/cluster from the hatch or CRX with some modifcation. If you want the CRX dash you'll have to make a hybrid dash. Jonathan_ED3 describes how here: https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1422991
The sky is really the limit on these things.
