Default Started making a cabon fiber valve cover

I started a carbon fiber valve cover for the non-vtec single cam cover. I have been working on it for a couple months and working on it when I have time, usually a couple hours a week. This is a prototype of the surface and I still need to do the underside and the seal. What do you guys think so far. It is vacuum infused using epoxy resins. Can handle up to 400 degrees. These are just progress pics. I should have some finished pics soon, when I get the seals milled

If you were trying to sell it after you make the prototype..I would at least make a sohc vtec one lol. But it looks cool, I bet you could sell a bunch.

we choose this valve cover cause we had one in the shop and have never did one. Not expecting to sell it but learn from making it and using it in other applications. Baffles have been figure in but not cut out yet. We plan on making a H22 cover and SR20 covers as well.

kind of a curious question about the carbon and the oil of the engine. Just something i remember when i used to work in the bike shop.

won't the oil cause the carbon fiber to deteriorate? I just remember that you weren't supposed to mix carbon fiber and petroleum products. I may be wrong but i figured i would ask anyhow.

it all depends on the resins that you use. I am using a chemical dependant resin that will not have a prob with the fuels or oil. Same resins ducati uses on their race bikes for the fuel tankes

i really don't know if we are going to decide to do them for production. Because of all the R&D for them.

You might have not known but most resins are a petroleum product . That is why the price of resins have shot up because of the price of oil
