Default Valve cover studs !

So how can I pull this bitch out with some common tools?? Or do I HAVE to go to a shop and have them drill it out? How much $ to drill it out?

take the other 7 nuts off the valve cover studs. After the valve cover is off, you can use a normal deep socket to remove the broken stud.

cost = $0

Just remember when you reinstall the new studs to torque them properly and do not overtighten - they only require 7 lb-ft of torque!

8x1.25 is the THREAD size of the studs right? Can I just get new ones from napa or somewhere?

Napa = 1 Mile

Honda Dealership = 35+ miles + closed !

well, once the VC is off you will notice that its not just a stud. It has a flanged nut in the middle of the stud.

However, if I remember correctly, that stud holds no forces other than the VC support. 4 of the studs hold the cam caps down but that doesnt.

I suppose, if you absolutely HAD to, you could use a normal stud.

So if I go to NAPA and ask them for a 8x1.25 valve cover stud for a 2000 Honda Civic Si...that will work?

I cant find my damn repair manual any where and dont want to buy a 6th one !

Until you can repair that,
You can take a piece of rubber hose with some RTV and slip it over
the broken stud to seal the hole temporarily..
