not a dumb question b/c intake it what usually causes it. I think with all that air coming in, the air hits the tb plate at just the right angle to make it whislte, just like you can do with a blade of grass. But thats just my thought, not sure

my 98 civic hx has done this ever since i have owned it. at first i was worried, but almost two years later it still hasn't presented a problem. it does sound almost like a little turbo spooling up. it isn't the intake on my car, as the sound was present before i put one on. it makes this sound somewhere between 2500-4000 rpms in my car, so pretty low in the rpm range. i always ask people what it is and no one knows...so good question

no really tho, its not a supercharger or aftermarket intake.

sounds like whistle/whine outside the car, but just sounds like loud whistle inside, happens forsure at 2-2.5k rpms

i have a 96 dx and it does the same thing. i think they have asked this before and someone said it just had to do with the way the throttle plate position and the air coming in. ive i heard of some integras doin it as well.

Probably a loose vacum hose/leak.

if anybody have a aftermarket intake(short or cold air) when your idle **** on your throttle body is turn up high enough(counter clockwise if looking straight at it with map sensor on top) you will get that noise. turn it down and adjust your timing.

Yeah, I have a 98 EX and it does the same thing, I just got it, and it does sound like the intake, I had a 94 DX with a AEM intake, it also whistled. The funny think thought, mine isn't very load, and some from the driver side. I have to have the heat and my music off to hear it. I'll find out when it breaks down. I gave up on it.

its jus the throttle plate. some do it some don't

i switched throttle bodies and now my car makes the whistling sound at partial throttle between 2-3k rpms.
