Are Oil coolers standard on B16's?
I'm working on swapping a B16 and instead of the oil filter mounting right to the block, it seems to mount to a 'spacer' which is about 2" thick. From this spacer, there are 2 hoses. One runs to the main coolant line that runs along the back of the motor and eh I forget where the other goes, but it appears as if it forces coolant in one side and out the other, through a liquid to liquid oil cooler. I'll get some pics when I can.
I presume the engine came from an XSi because it is a P3 ECU (I think)
So, I guess my question really is this- do Oil coolers come only on certain motors or what? Do they only come on the JDM Integra?
Thanks
Brian

USDM or JDM, cause my friends b18c doesn't have an oil cooler.

Well his doesn't have it. I've been under that car many times and never seen any lines going to the oil filter area, except for the oil feed line. I'm sure you could all figure out what that is for.
B16s do have an oil cooler (cool with coolant though), it is not the type that looks like a trans cooler or radiator, it is the steel piece you screw your oil filter onto. Next time you change your filter look at the coolant lines going to that piece you screw the filter on that is the cooler. I have two b16's sitting here one in my car and the other in my garage.
What the thread started descriped is the cooler and i am 99% sure all vtec motors come with it (don't kow about d-series). But i have done plenty of swaps and seen it every time.

Your wrong noob, look at where your oil filter screws on there are coolant lines coming from the rear coolant tube to the unit you screw the filter on to. That is the oil cooler, its not much but it does the job.

The RSX Type S motor has one. I remember reading that if you swap to a K24 block you have to either block the one port on the head or tap out the port. . . something like that.
But yeah I'll take some pics and try to figure out how to post them up here. BTW I wanna say that this site has an amazing amount of responders/viewers. I just posted my question yesterday and I come back to find it on the bottom of the 2nd page! Thats amazing!
Ok thx.
