This is a build which was going all good until we experienced imminent Rod Bolt failure during a tuning session. The motor which made 219 WHP on a conservative tune at 8000 RPM had alot more in it. The pulls were on made 17's and the motor contained eagle rods with 5/16 bolts. This is the first time we have seen this happen as we have used the exact same rods/rod bolt combo and made over 550 WHP with them. This motor will now be rebuilt even better. Why are we showing this? There are some people who would like our fellow racers to believe that these types of issues do not happen. We are here to show you the realities of this sport both good and bad. Here are the pics.
This the block which we sleeved with AEBS Sleeves.

DAMN!!! I am so sorry to see that man. Wish you luck with the new build. that is really crazy though too, ARP rod bolts breaking at 8k in 219whp motor.

That's what he's saying dude, the ARP rod bolt broke. That **** is gay because ARP is supposed to be the ****.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your motor. Looks like it made some really nice numbers. I have seen this exact eagle rod bolt failure numerous times. It is painful to see it everytime. Damn rod bolts.
This kind of shitty luck is what made me keep my daily driver engine build a little more mild and oem based than I originally wanted. Do you think you will use eagle rods in the next build? or are planning to try something else? Anyway, I hope you have better luck with your next build.

Sorry, I did not mention that the head looks perfectly fine. At least we will be able to use that again.

We will most likely try a Crower Rod set next.

Nah, we have not. We have thought about it but have not really decided if we should contact them.

They were the 5/16th bolts.

The motor with the names on it is actually being finished up today. I will try to take some more pics of it today or Monday when we get back to the shop. It ran a little off schedule but it has basically been completed. This motor here that I posted was for an an All Motor Civic EK.

Damn !!!! It's hard to loose a built block that you've spent money on through mechanical failure. Thank god the head is still good. Many people including myself have used Eagle rods for years without having any issues. This goes to show that $h!t happens. Good luck with your new rebuild.
