Default wheel bearings question

im geting my ZC put in by a shop here, and he says that once you roll a car without a motor in it the wheel bearings will become unpacked or no good anymore, and i wanted to know if this was true because im broke and he says it $170 to replace them and i dont have anymore money. i thought about trying to do the swap with the help of my friends but im not sure, he charging me $400 to put it in and wire it. any feedback on any of the info here will be kick ***, thanks

That's crap, we roll **** around all the time without axles in it. Now I wouldn't go making any Bonneville top speed runs or tow it across the country or anything, but pushing it 100 feet around the parking lot at 2mph isn't going to do anything.
