as always, pple get wayy diff mileage. say one post where the guy was gettin 35 out of his del sol si (dohc) and another guy gettin mid 20's..another w/a d16 turbo drivin it hard gettin high 20's..

so, what is it?

im REALLY leanin towards the SI w/the d16 since its a lil better platform to tinker w/and get the speed i want....but the mileage + havin to use premium is whats gettin me. i know its because of the compression but geez..coudlnt you run mid grade and get away w/out and ping, as long as your not gaggin on it?

help and no flaming would be appreciated.

1st Del Sol Si is not DOHC. Its a SOHC D16. ("Del Sol VTEC" is the DOHC model) which is probably why they are getting better mileage

2nd Gas mileage always fluctuates between everyone by how they drive and where they drive (city vs. highway).

depends.
in my 96 accord ive gotten a low as 23 gagging on it and as high as 36 mpg driving slower than a dead snail.
normal driving, i get 31-33...its slow so i dont drive it hard. and i drive 40 miles a day w/no city driving.

on average, i dont have a heavy foot at all because im interested in gas mileage, but i want something faster than a 17.3 second car.

and im learnin bout the del sol's, so i apologize bout the Vtec being the dohc..i thought it would be the SI. like i said, im learnin.

what about runnin mid grade in the Vtec? bad wrong or ok as long as you dont rag on it?
