Default AEM V2 intake vs AEM 3" CAI power gains

Out of those two intakes, which intake will help me produce power on a b16? Also if anyone has a dyno graph on either one of these setups on a b16 motor can you link me? thanks.

Oh God.. ANOTHER intake thread.

I would honestly suggest just getting an EBay intake with a K&N filter. Not only is it going to be cheaper, but will probably produce around the same amount of gain as a name brand intake.

Now, I can see you're in CA the only reason I can see why you would want an AEM intake is for smog purposes.

lol. It's probably the cheapest thing you can do to your car to gain a small bit of power.

Exactly. I wish more people would read that, it would save them money. But since this kid is in CA, he may want to get an AEM just due to smog purposes.

buying a name brand intake is kind of like buying a mugen strut tower bar.

mine that i paid 15 bucks for does the exact same thing at a fraction of the cost, but it wont win the show.

More or less. I'm waiting for someone to post saying that name brand intakes are better.

First of all i never mentioned about purchasing the intake. i understand how intakes work or what not. But these answers you guys are posting is irrelevent to the question that i am asking. Reread the thread and give me a better answer.

My buddy is going to give them to me, (its free) so i just want to know which intake out of the two would give me the best gain power? I understand intake sucks from these peoples point of view, but its only a temporary setup until i finish my boost setup

Get whichever one can be taken appart and whichever you think looks better.

If you seriously want my opinion get a charge pipe or ITBs. Those are the only "intake" ill ever run.

neither just get a velocity stack

email joe - see http://www.prototyperacing.com to get one

for those of you that don't believe the hype I show you this
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1450472&page=2

generic velocity stack vs. prototyperacing stack

EDIT if you get this get K&N filter RF-1048 - tests have shown NO drop in performance with filter compared to open stack

How can any intake be loud? Can it be heard from more than 5 feet away? Mine is quiet as hell.

I was driving normal and since my car didn't look "normal" i guess he decided to see what wasn't stock under the hood. at the time i had a stock motor and exhast. i guess single cam sounds like a race car to a bored cop.

I would have to disagree with pretty much everyone here. Different intakes are not all the same, some provide more power than others, some provide more power in different areas. Here is a thread on a AEM vs. a J's Racing. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1194241 Yes I know it's a bigger motor, but it still proves a point...regardless of what motor you have. I have also seen a dyno that made more power with the version 1 AEM over the version 2. Bottom line, they are not "just noise makers" like you are portraying them to be.

Without some sort of filter, of course they will.
