the idea of doing this is to give more strut travel in the rear. I already gave the front good amount of travel and it perfect for me but i want to save those rear struts too since i like to ride really low daily and also i already have made my own extened top hats on the rears but that doesnt do enough for me.

Problem is the LCA are the cast style from what your picturing. Even if you do cut and re-weld them properly(which is hard to do with cast) the weld area will no penetrate all the way through and it will be more brittle. I say 5-6 harsh pot holes and your done!

Your better off starting from scratch, do you homework with designing them, and make new ones.

there is a better solution if you are after more strut travel... get strut hats with a deeper top in them.

you should make them from scratch.

I wouldnt ever think about butt-welding a cast piece , especially an LCA.

make them tubular with spherical bearings , thats what I'd do.

ok you already made extended hats and you say they werent long enough.....So why not make them longer? Alot easier and safer than cutting a lca IMO.
