throttle cable???
i have an 89 civic w/ b16 recently put a skunk 2 manifold with stock throttle body and it isnt opening up 100% on vafc. its going up to about 80%. Im using my stock si throttle cable, is it that maybe i need a different throttle cable cause i never replaced it when i swapped the engine. also my check engine light went on after i took off the rotor where the cable slides in.
I've heard that the some of the Civic /CRX throttle cables don't work, I think its the DX and the HF or maybe just the DX, that doesn't work, and in that case you have to get an Integra cable.. But if your Civic is an Si then you should be no problem. Do you have slack in the cable ? thats most likely the culprit. Make sure you throttle cable is taunt. you can adjust it by movoing two nuits on the cable, that are connected to the Intake Manifold.
ive tried cutting the slack but the closest ive got it up to was 81% cause if i pull on the cable from under the dash it goes straight to 100% but if i floor the accelarator it stops at 80%
use the integra cable! and how did you get that SKUNK manifold to work?? I got one the other day and the IAT sensor is in the way of the fuel regulator and the throttle cable bracket!?!?!!!!!!!!
have someone sit in the car and push the pedal to the floor.
My bet is that it's opening up all the way, but the TPS sensor is screwy, or just out of adjustment. You can make your TPS adjustable by simply removing the stock rivets, and installing same thread screws, twisting the TPS to adjust it.
HTH.

Has it ever occured to you that it may not be the cable at all and maybe just the intializing on your VAFC not done correctly?
Before doing anything else, erase everything it the VAFC and re-intialize it and set your throttle position reading over again.
To test the cable, have someone sit in the car and have them press the gas pedal all the way. Then go to the rotor and see if you can push it open more. If you cannot then your cable is fine. (WHICH WOULD BE THE VAFC)
If the rotor opens more while your friend is still pressing the pedal then you may have to change the cable or mess with the rotor. (which i believe you said you took it appart?)
Hope that helps.
