using stock clutch on lightened flywheel. will ther be a problem.
eHey guys I am currently having a h22 engine swap done (my motor was knocking) the shop doing the job said that the old h22 (one being swaped out) had a performance clutch and flywheel, but the clutch needs to be replaced they said that if i go back to a stock dealer clutch I will have to change the flywheel back to stock. Is this true? I looked around on the net and all the posts I have seen said that a stock clutch should be able to work with the lightened FW no problem.
thanks for your help.
thanks for your help.
I am running a 7.5 lb Fidanza with an Exedy Unity (OEM) clutch disk for 15K miles now, no problems at all. But I would try to get an Exedy full face organic race disk for your setup, while everything is apart. That's what I tried to buy, but was scammed when sent the Unity disk.
I think your bigger problem isn't whether your clutch disk is compatible with the lightened flywheel, but whether an OEM clutch disk can handle the power you will be putting out. If you are at a near stock power level, then you should be fine.
Have the flywheel resurfaced before mating it to the new clutch disk. And you could probably find an aftermarket clutch disk that offers better performance than the OEM unit and cost much less.
