Default time for a new exhaust

so i tore out the old fart can exhaust from the hatch!. what exhuast would be good to run? its a 90 civic std with a zc.
would the stock exhaust be good? i dont want anything loud, basically i wanna keep it looking stock without having a big fat fart can hanging out the back bumper, but i wanna make sure i can run stock with that engine.
thanks
