the car was racing prolly a year after the project started . the supercharger and itb's didnt really do too well . the car only made like 201whp with the blower . put itbs on it but never had the right tuning so they went to an intake manifold which is what it has today . 207whp still needs more tuning.

and the first pics were from around jan of 01....here is the writeup from the site.

Update January 3rd, 2001
Things are running very smooth with a little mix and matching of parts we have got the Integra Type R suspension in with KG/MM springs, complete with the 5 lugs and 4 wheel disc brakes 282mm ventilated in the front and 260mm in the rear. We also threw on the Type R rims. Since the car was rolled the rims are pretty scratched up, so we will have to have them cleaned up like new with of course the Civic Type R center cap (Red H).

Update January 8th, 2001
We have the Comptech sway bar and type bar installed. A very nice and easy install check out the pictures below.

Update January 20th, 2001
The car actually looks like a car now... well almost. We acquired a rear hatch, tail lights, headlights, Tsunami grille, and mesh grille in bumper. We also a carbon fiber hood a set of Wings West side skirts an Si front lip and a Type R wing.
The big news the transplant was a big success, but of course it was, we have the finest Modacar mechanics working on it. The big DOHC red valve cover looks absolutely gorgeous under that carbon fiber hood, we still need to install the radiator before we can start that bad boy up.

Among the other things we also have put in a MOMO race steering wheel, a start button ignition, and a true HID system. There is tons to come so check back often or come visit our shop in Pleasanton and check it out.

Update March 19th, 2001
With the addition of a Jackson Racing Supercharger, Fluidyne radiator and re-mapped Type R computer, the Civic was finally complete enough to take for a drive. The first time we started it, the whole Modacar crew came out to watch as the car roared to life for the first time! It was a great accomplishment for us here at Modacar! We have also added Recaro Seats with Sparco harnesses to keep us in the seat, Spoon Sports front and reat strut bars to keep the car tight in the turns, and Power Slot rotors with Axxis Metal Master brake pads to stop the car on a dime! We also put on a few other upgrades on the Civic like, a Jackson Racing BTC controller, Autometer boost gauge, JDM factory Type R pedals, and a Suspension Techniques front sway bar. Everyone can agree that the car is fast, fun and only just begun! Check back with us for more updates soon to come because the project is far from over!

Update May 14th, 2001
Recently, the Modacar mechanics have added a few more things to our list of upgrades for the project Civic! The Civic got JDM Type R side view mirrors along with a JDM Civic Type R front grille imported to us directly from Japan. In addition to that, we put in a factory JDM Civic Type R gauge cluster. The car also got some new shoes too! It looks really good in its new 17" Rota Sub Zero rims wrapped in 205 40ZR17 Yokohama Parada rubber! The car is definitely starting to really come together! But like all cars with enthusiasts for owners, it is not finished yet!!

Update Nov 21st, 2001
The latest update to the Modacar Civic is the Hondata. What did the hondata do for the Civic. Well we found unused power that now equates to 201 HP to the wheels as a start. But more than just the added power gain the car is smooth as silk and pulls hard right up to the red line. It also allowed us to remove the Jackson BTC and the Jackson fuel regulator and replace it with the B&M UNIT.
The stage four Handata system is a good addition to the Civic project and we will play more with it on the street and Dyno in the new year to come.
We have taken the car out for some road race fun with NASA and found no problem running hard all day.
Next will be some quarter mile action and time slips.

Update Jan 21st, 2002
We all want to get the most out of our dollar especially in these days so we looked for the biggest bang for the buck in light weight performance wheels.
What we decided to try out are the Rota Slipstream 16X7.0 5X114.3 wrapped with 20545ZR16 Toyo T1-S . Yes in this case the tire cost more than the wheel but we need the stick we are interested in the wheels performance.
Rota Slipstream took a minimal amount of wheel weight to balance about .75 OZ per wheel which is not bad given the low cost. This set-up performed very well at Laguna Seca on Sunday 01-13-02.
Given the low cost and the very nice look good functionality we like this wheel very much, Good job Rota.

Added on to the Project Civic
16X7.0 Rota Slipstream Black
Toyo T1-S 20545ZR16 Tires
JDM Recaro Red Seats
JDM Door Panels
Tanabe Sustec Pro Spring and Damper Set

Update Jan 30th, 2003
Well this past fall we removed the Jackson Racing supercharger to make room for the stock type-R intake manifold. We massaged the head with a port and polish from our friends at DNR.

The stock cams were removed and replaced with Toda Racing spec B along with Toda valve spring set and skunk2 retainers. We added some GAB 16 inch wheels to complete the new look too. The power gain is outstanding considering we have not added an engine management system yet. Current wheel power is about 190 which is not bad without tuning.

Within the next few months we will add a new engine management system and some more go fast goodies.

I can respect the hard work but the fun stuff has alreasdy been done. Half the fun for me personally is getting the parts and doing the buildup and watching it progress to the next level. Buying a built car seems like it would take all the fun out of it? Not hating here, nice car and looks like it's built nicely I just prefer a blank page myself. b/c it's still sweet regardless.

I like how quickly you turned it from the Modacar style to the Hella style. Obviously you didn't want a car that was built to someones else's taste and quickly transformed it....props, BIG props for the way it looks now....***** ill son!

I used to always check Modacars site back in the day during that build-up to see the updates. That is a very well put together car

It needs MORE track time
