Default Twin Loop Muffler Installation Charge

I have a question in regards of the Twin Loop Muffler for our cars.

How much did you guys get it installed for?

I just got off the phone and the guy said that it could be around $88 dollars. I explained to him that he will need to cut and then weld it onto the stock exhaust system.

Are there any other informations that I need to know in regards of the installation of these Twin Loop Mufflers? Does the loop part gets tucked in the top, or does it stay on the bottom, the sides?

Thanks.

at my work, we'd charge 80.... its kind of a flat rate if someone brings their own muffler in, other than that we dont install customer supplied parts. So I'd say 88 is fair enough, assuming there may be modification in order for it to work.

Awesome thanks. And I did try using the search function but there are only 2 threads with pics of it on an Integra and both pics did not show up. Sorry about that.

But thank you. I am going to go see the muffler guy and see what's the deal.

Thanks!

why waste $88 for a deeper exhaust sound...at least upgrade your piping to a bigger diameter

Why are u welding it to stock pipes?
kinda pointless. you wont get any higher flow just by adding a muffler...
I had a custom exhaust made for $150. thats a fullcatback and i supplied the magnaflow muffler.

I see, if I was to upgrade my piping, will it still be street legal? Will it pass smog?

This is a route that I have not yet considered. The reason why I am upgrading just the muffler itself is because the stock muffler looks pretty beat up. Just wanted to to upgrade it so it does look all corroded.

So to make everything still legal and by the book, which route should I take?

And btw, I just got back from the muffler shop and they forwarded me to a different shop because they would have to fabricate a hanger to hold the exhaust and that is something that they are not too comfortable with. They did say the muffler looks nice, lol.

Thank you and looking forward to hear some responses. In the meantime, I am going to search and read up on exhaust pipings.

as long as its not too loud (which the twinloop is not) the cops wont give you any problem.
It should still pass smog tests as long as u keep ur cat.

any shop is gonna have to fabricate hangers and weld them to the muffler. if they kno what theyre doing, it will come out fine.

Installing larger diameter exhaust piping from the Catalytic Converter back to the muffler will not cause you to fail smog, even in California. Anything you do before the Catalytic Converter will need to have a CARB Number in order to be legal. If you just change the muffler and the cat-back piping the only laws you would even have to consider would be anything having to do with noise ordinances. In other words just make sure your car won't be super loud and you will be fine.

Is it even considered an upgrade to go from a LS exhaust setup to a GS-R exhaust setup with the Twin Loop? Any difference compared to stock LS exhaust setup?

Depending on where you live it's going to be legal or not. When I had to go to court for my exhaust the guy said that any mod to your stock exhaust is illegal here. But it's all about the cop you deal with. in Wallingford, CT the cops love american cars and hate imports. my friend has a fully built trans am and he ran a light, cop pulled him over, didn't give him a ticket, but gave him props for the sticker on the back winshield, it was that peeing dude that said, "Import this!" and was giving two middle fingers.

sittingonROTAS - You are located around my neighborhood. What is your exhaust setup like? Where is the shop that did your installation? Are they any good?

The noise issue is def a concern. I do not want anything that sounds really loud and ricey.

Like stated before, I am just trying to replace the muffler part, but now, I am def interested in replacing the piping.

So bigger piping will enhance performance because less restriction correct?

And if I was to install a Header and Intake later down the line, that would help performance?

Nice, I just got off the phone with the person that the first shop forwarded me, and she sounded very knowledable in what I wanted done.

For me to customize a pipe to be 2.25, install the Twin Loop, Fabricate the Hanger...total is $85 flat. Sounds pretty damn good.

make sure you ask for mandrel bent piping...avoid crush bent, or else youre better off with your stock exhaust.

Okay, I will ask for that.

Any other tips that I should know and forward to them so it reduces the likeliness of a f*ck up?

Cool thanks. I will see if the shop I am going to go to is comfortable with what I need them to do before driving all the way to Fremont.

Yea, it does look pretty funky, haha.

when i got my gsr it had 2.25 piping from the cat back, which was great, but it was welded to a 1.75 chambered muffler, which sucked. so i bought a st8 through magaflow stainless cutoff the old muffler myself, and had a local shop weld it on there for me. they only charged me $35. now it sounds and feels great.

If your going to pay $88 to get the muffler welded on I'd invest in getting piping fabricated from the cat back. If you use 2.5in crush bent that should be fine for you since your going to be running it N/a, if it were mandrel 2.25 would probably be fine but since most fabricated exhausts at shops are crush bent I think you should probably go with 2.5 since around those bends the pipe gets even smaller and the flow isn't that smooth.

you people are crazy.... over 80$ no way! i cant believe it costs that much in the same state i live in... in my city you can get it done for like 15-30$ depending on the shop and who you talk to.... thats just amazing.. it doesnt take that long to install it. its bank for them cause they get it done way under an hour.... like less than half an hour... so if you paid them 30$ thats like 60$ an hour!!! wow i should work in a muffler shop. i cant believe people pay so much!!

They are going to do custom piping from the catback all the way till it attaches to the muffler. It is not the first shop that I posted above. It is a second shop.

So I will be asking for a Mandrel if it is 2.25, and crush bent if I use a 2.5.

But I believe the muffler is 2.25, does that matter in regards of the piping size?

Also, if I get 2.5, I can still use a Mandrel bent correct?

Yea, I wish I could find around my area for that cheap. But most people gets kinda confused when they see the muffler and so they would refer me elsewhere. I would drive around, but if I was to factor in gas, it will be about the same price.
