Default I have 3 choices for fuel management on my swap...

Im swapping a b16a2 into EG 4 door. Im staying obd1. My first option is i could chip my p28. I have a friend who does this really cheap, but he told me i would never get full potential out of my car.

Second, i could run a chipped p72 that will cost me 220... I already can sell my p28 for 150 easily so this translates to about 70 bucks out of my pocket. This is by far the cheapest choice i have, which is a big factor to me because im kinda broke around christmastime

Third i can get Hondata and tuning by the same guy as first option, for 240. I understand that if i did this now it will be the most expensive but will give me the best performance. However, even if i go the cheap way with just getting the chipped p72 i can always hondata it later... I plan to do it no matter which way i decide to go.

input?

just do the hondata now, if you plan on doing it anyway. you'll be saving money in the long run, and its just common sense.

Simply chipping the ECU is not the way to go unless you're planning on tuning it with Crome/Uberdata.

Going with a P72 would be a waste of money, you can't use the base map in it for your B16a, so you'll have to chip it. And once chipped the only real difference between the P72 and the P30 is the IAB control that you don't need.

Then again once chipped, the only real difference between the P30 and the P28 is the knock sensor in the P30. BUT the P30 has the B16a base map stock...

going with the $240 hondata would probably be the best in the long run.
Personally I'd sell the P28 and pick up a P30. It will run the engine like honda intended, plus you don't have to worry about getting it tuned right away.
Hondata/Crome/Uberdata all work great with a P30 so when you want to take the tuning jump you can.

Go hondata, because just like everyone else after a while you will get bored with the b16 and want more power. so when you go to make more power you will already have a good engine management system!!!!
