exactly. just drive over some 2X4's for the front. cheap and effective. trust me, don't take the cup off the jack. i did that once and it slipped and cracked my lower radiator.

before, i used to drive up on wood or a brick, then jack it up from there....i invested into one of those low/light weight racing jacks...now i just slip it underneath the jack points and go at it

i know what you mean! Snap-On makes that low-profile one which makes life helluva lot easier. but in a pinch or when the low-pro jack isn't available you can't beat the 2X4's.

I use a jack from a nissan sentra at first. Its really slim. I also welded a socket on the end of it so I can just ratchet it up. After I raise it enough using the Nissan jack, I just slide the floor jack underneath and go from there.
This is kind of a funny thread because I always wondered what everyone else did, just didn't want to ask.

face my rearend towards hood.. lift up on the front of the bumper and slip the jack under the car... if car is too low.. we use the stock jack or blue point lightweight jack to raise at side jacking points and use big jack afterwards..
out big snap on jack lifts higher and is more sturdy than the lightweight racing jacks.. we only use the lightweight ones if we are at the track or for emergencies/quickies..
they also make Takata LDS ramps you can drive up onto.. "Low down slope". they are environmentally friendly.. as they use "recycled takata race belts"

low/light weight racing jack is a great investment. i probably will drop almost every car i will own, so it's worth the money for me.

You take off your front bumper just to raise your car!
Just drive on some 2x4's and your set.
Also instead of using the radiatior support, try using the tow hook, much sterdier and less chance of slipping
Also check the appearence forum, Takata now makes ramps for lowered cars.

i do exactly the same.. but its kinda hard to have those two jacks share that one jacking point on the sides.. i dont know where in the middle to jack it up so i dont.. plus the hydro jack wont fit, i need the slim profile one...
but i have 2, 2.5" tall brick stepping stones.. i drove on those then its high enough to slide the hydo jack under..

lol, yea talk about impractical.
I either use 2x4s, or just lift it by the wheel well by myself or with a buddy and slide the jack under.

I drive it on some 2X4s b/c the scissor jack is a pain in the *** to use and I'm to cheap to buy a lo-pro. I have to get a new jack soon though b/c my old one won't raise my car enough to get jack stands underneath it. I'm a little to scared to install that shortshifter now. A 20+yr old jack is not something you want keeping you alive while under the floor or a lowered car.

you could save a hell of alot of time by nailing 2 2x4s together and driving up on them.
