The pictures aren't the best, but you get the idea.
I got this header from one of our H-T brothers on the East coast and it was in horrible condition, as you can see. I had one our West coast H-T homies clean it up for me and, well, you can see the improvement. The flange needs to be cleaned up a bit more.
Once it's finished, is there anything I need to treat it with in order to get a nice even color after it's been heated up?

Shouldn't need to coat it with anything, just make sure there is no oil on it...like..even from your hands or anything. Watch that **** turn a nice bronze color

That's what I've heard. the WD-40 serves a dual purpose. It gets the prints and oil off, and then acts a primer to promote that cool golden bronze color. Can anyone confirm that?

loooks goood.. i polished out my comptech header right before i installed it also. i used brakleen to blast away all the oils on it before i started up my car. as of right now, it is still very shiny, and has a nice gold hue to it!

If you mean the methods of polishing, the following steps were taken:
200 grit, 800 grit, and 1200 grit, followed by Mothers Aluminum and Mag polish, applied with a buffer/polisher.
I think it may still need a few passes of the 2000 grit.

All you need to do is wipe down the header completely with a clean towel or a little more Mothers polish after you have it installed. It turns gold or bronze automatically after it's been used for a little while.
