Default 1st Post = 1st Honda **LONG**

Hope I am doing this in the right place. If not mods, I do apologize.

Wanted to introduce myself to what I have been told is the best Honda forum on the net. College Student residing in Houston, TX, I have owned quite a few cool cars, mr2's rx7's, z's. Currently daily driver is a Mazda Miata but recently found out my friend is selling a 1992 Acura Integra LS which sparked some interest.

Haven't purchased it yet but it is planned to be mine within the next few weeks.

Some info about the car, has about 115K miles... pretty good condition. Runs well, burns a little bit of oil. I am picking it up for about ~1500 which I feel pretty good about. It is going to be strictly for fun but I would like reliability out of it.

The main reason I have been drawn into the honda world is simply because of the vast aftermarket and the possibility of engine swaps. I am still learning a lot and using the search button(mostly successfully) quite a bit on here but I do have a few questions.

Feel free to direct me to links.

1. Engine swap ideas, I contacted Import Auto Salvage about some good stuff(very impressed with the service from Randy so far). He told me a super easy swap is to put in the B16a motor from the Si and Del Sol DOHC Vtec. I like the idea of this mostly because I have a little bit of a love affair with the sound of DOHC vtec after test driving a Del Sol back in HS. The only thing is it does seem a little silly going down in displacement and when I asked Randy about this, he said the ease of swap and power of the 1.6 is worth it. I am on about a 2000 dollar budget with the engine.

I am new to Honda but I have done motor swaps before so feel free to get technical. I am not looking for the fastest car out there but I want something fun

Not willing to weld and if you want to give me some things to also look for please feel free.

Thanks in advance and sorry so long.
Greg

Personally I would go with a GSR 1.8L DOHC Vtec motor. More HP then the 1.6, and it should not cost you too much more than the Sol motor

Search lsvtec. You can probably build a reliable setup that makes decent power for $2000.
