Default a few questions (motor-related)

hey guys- jjust bought an 01 s2000 a few weeks ago-had 44k on it- runs strong. Heres my question- after getting into vtec on some spirited driving (I by no means drive the car like I stole it- thats what my rsx type s was for)-when i let the car sit at idle and rev it up a little- there is a minor clunk sound around 2500-3000 . nothing terrible- i heard it could be "piston slap"... never heard it in my type S ( and i beat the crap out of that car.) Also- after I turn the car off- only after driving a little hard for a whille- there is a rapid ticking for 3-4 minutes coming from the engiine bay. is all this normal? Thanks...

the clunking is def. not normal. you have to explain the "ticking" sound, because the block/tranny does make clicking/cracking noises when it's cooling down, but not constantly either.

get it checked out.

Had something like that in my motorcycle; it was the timing chain. It was stretched and the chain tensioner needed to be replaced. But I'm not sure that's what you have.

Doesn't sound good. Best get it looked at before something really goes wrong.
