it's the final drive....I lost the website w/ gear ratios though

both are good though, the 98 is just a lil tighter.

its in the link you provided Antonio . the 98-01 japanese ITR's got the nice final drive (4.785) but a less aggressive 4th and 5th gear.

What would you consider the better tranny? The JDM 98-01 or JDM 95-97 With the 4.785 FD?

Alot of people like the 4.785 FD. Good for road racing...I would pick that over the 4.40 if I had the chance

That's a lot of money. I think way too much. Check the classifieds here. I believe that GZR4DR was selling a near new one for like 1300.

A new USDM ITR tranny with a hookup at Acura will run you mid $1700s.
A new 98 Spec JDM ITR tranny will run you more. The key here is NEW. The difference in the 98 Spec is that it runs the 4.785 FD vs the US Spec 4.40. Also, the JDM 98 spec runs the GSR 4th and 5th gear, too. If you can find a used ITR tranny (expect to pay anywhere from 13xx-15xx) you can always install the JDM FD. You can pick those up for mid $400 range. Do the math and most of the time you are better off going with the new one. I hope this is coherent...it's getting late here. Thanks.
