SPOON SPORTS AIR FILTERS
saw this on dave's new site...anyone got any experience or info on these? description on them got me thinking and i like minor mods-thanks guys
Honestly...it is a good filter...but overpriced. You are better off letting me source you a monster filter or even, gasp, a Comptech. Foam is your friend!
go with the monster filter...i believe they r the same, and the monster filter is cheaper.
alot of ppl here also use K&N and swear by it.
Even though i'm a big fan of Spoon Sports, some of the stuff is not needed

since spoon is the topic, i acually heard some of there products have the potiental to decrease power, i was read an article and they put down spoon, they lost like 2.3ft of torque with the spoon header as opposed to stock. I mean the list went on header, filter, exhuast, all tested on a stock 01 r

is foam better than K&N? (just wondering cause I have both and have had this disscussion before)
Very well made piece. Price is a bit expensive but I still go for it cuz of the top notch quality
With my engine setup somehow the drop in filter worked incredibly well.

i am running a trust replacement filter...it looks identical to the yellow spoon one..and it even says trust on it...i heard that it's the same company that makes spoon too...it just has different names on it with a huge price difference.

save up 80 more bucks and buy a aem.
but the only problem i've seen with the spoon is the price
and if you plan to upgrade internaley they will perform better if you have better flow wheter that be headers, exhaust or intake if I was you I would spend money on a c/a intake.
just my opinions and tuning experiences

That is what I did you my Spoon Filter when it was time to clean it. I just used the K&N recharge kit. It was hard to get filter oiled becuase K&N uses a cotton element and oil just spreads out when you put it on. But with the Foam one you have to work it around alittle to make sure you oiled every inch.
i used to have the filter, had it for about 6 months and it looked almost as new as the day i bought it. performance wise, i took off the resonator but didn't seem TOO different from the stock filter. it was certainly louder, stock vs spoon, both with the resonator off. i wouldn't say it's worth the money...
