Default What is the proper reply?

I was tinkering with the idea of selling my S2k and getting an E46 M3 or an Exige/Elise. I don't know if I'll do it, but just an idea for right now. Anyway, I listed it on Autotrader just as a feeler, and of course, few days later, I get an email that goes something like this.

"Matthew Reese
Westside Car Dealership
6200 Lankershim Blvd
North Hollywood, CA 91606
Thanks for the email. Please I have discuss with my client and he has agreed that he will be willing to have the vehicle shipped to Canada upon reaching an agreement with you.See below forSome Questions he has for you:
1) Is the engine in perfect condition?
2) How often do you service the car?
3) How many miles on the car now?
4) Are you the owners?
5) If yes, for how long did you use car?
All things being equall,He cant wait to see the car parked in his garage due to the fact that we are running short of time.
However,My client made out a certified cashiers check of($26,000) before he travelled to japan on a business trip, for a previous car and its shipment charges etc,but it was unfortunately sold. The amount on the check he deposited for the car is bigger than what should be paid to you now, so the check is now meant for the total expenses which includes the purchase of your car,the pick up of the car from its present location and the shipping charges/other necessary shipping arrangements. However he has instructed us to carry on with this transaction. So you're required to deduct the cost of your car ($19,000)and send the balance of($7,000) to the Agent ( our shipper ) for him to be able to offset shipping & tax charges, and other cosmetic repair costs. After payment has reached you and balance sent to shipper, the shipper's agent will come for inspection, pick up (of vehicle & signing of title papers), make some cosmetic touches and drive to a prepaid shipper to be shipped to my customer.and also conclude other necessary shipping arrangements.so you dont have to bother yourself about the pick up and shipping arrangements.
Please Confirm this and provide name, address and phone number for check payment to be delivered to you via fedex courier .
Thanks and God bless.
Below is my client's information
Schneider Adams
454 2nd RD E,
Stoney Creek,
ontario L8J 2X9.
Phone Number (206)3331252"

Yeah, obvious scam(no such company as "Westside Car Dealership"). Alerting the authorties will do jack, I think. But I was thinking of ways to get back at these guys, even in a fun sort of way.

Maybe have the FedEx guy come and take a huge turd in the envelope that I'm supposed to put the check in? I don't know. Any ideas?

And I hope these guys get what they deserve.

This sounds familiar. I think someone in the ITR forum encountered a similar situation.

Well, how this scam works is, if I'm stupid enough to send the $7,000, I'll never hear from them again. They're obviously not going to come by and "inspect the vehicle," much less ship the car.

I hope no one falls for crooked scams like this.

They may even come pick the car up for "shipping" too.

The address points to a pretty seedy part of North Hollywood. I'd do a recon for you, but I might have to go strapped and vested.

Did they work the headache out of the NOS in liquid form? If yes, you might have a deal.

Tell them to meet you at a legitimate bank and do the transaction there, making sure he has the funds. It will never happen I am just throwing that out. Scammers can go to hell.

I still like my "poop via FedEx" idea.

BTW, I'm not going to sell the S. Again, I was just dabbling with the idea of an Exige/Elise.

Keep the S, sell your body for the Exige. You'd be able to afford an oil change for it by the time you retire.
