that setup brewer posted is not taking near full advantage of the stack. its a very bad representation. i would fix that

dont IPS have the prototype stacks for $70, this excludes the pipe and silicone connector though

yeah the point of stacks is to gather air around the base of the lip. his filter blocks that option off

ill email you a paint drawing.

Actually ... Prototype Racing designed it to have a filter, so I ll kind of agree on your flow statement but your 1st statement is untrue of the purpose of the original design

its not untrue since i said FULL advantage. im sure its helping. but taking the filter off cant be argued as a loss in power.

No loss no gain .. I dynoed it 1st hand on our Dynojet... BTW you are still getting air from the 6" portion as the filter is clamped on the land of the stack. The full radius of the stack is exposed inside the filter and the filter is so large that it flows enough air volume as not to starve any run of the mill NA motor. Even high HP motors won’t be starved by the filter. So use it and save your motor ... enough said!

DDD personaly dynoed his car with and with out the K&N Filter using the prototype racing V stack and there was no lose in power anywhere. Check it out here last post https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1018645&page=3

I've gone through that thread. I have run 6 more analysis's using 3 different v.stack configurations. I am also using a more "complex" model which I feel better models the application. I am finding that the cone filter does influence flow rates, but the gains or losses are realistically probably negligible. The 3 configs I studied only differed by 1% at most. As I suspected though the designs better suited for a filter lost flow rate without a filter the design better suited for no filter lost when I added the filter. Reasoning for this, I discuss above somewhere, but basically it comes down to trying to "steer" the pressure gradient towards the air supply.

But again the differences are very very small.

dfoxengr you can read more about it here https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1450472&page=3
