Default What would you pay for a RHD conversion?

This will be a touchy subject for some of you I am sure. Lets keep this simple and not let it turn into a debate.

As you know there is another Fast and Furious movie coming out soon.
Contrary to what anyone says it has generated alot of new honda and import car owners.

This is not about "RICE or not RICE".

For what I understand the new movie is being shot overseas and will be RHD cars.

Well with that in mind I am thinking about offering this as a service for those who are willing to pay well for the swap. I can do one and return the car in 2 weeks or so.

New fads generate a new market.

The question is what would you expect to pay for a conversion?
Have a safe and happy holiday.

Thanks for the bump but I would not even think about doing one for 500 bux.

Wait till you do yours. You will see what I am talking about.

Well, do you mean how much would we pay for parts or labor or both?

For parts, I would expect to pay about $400-$600 dollars. In fact I've seen front clips sell for this much (without engine, of course).

For labor, I think $1500-$2000 would be reasonable.

i will pay 15000 as rhd conversion gives you more power than turbo and nos combined. a very worthly investment that the value will double in a year or 2.

Actually, no one really gives a expletive...go flaunt your e-wallet elsewhere .

I would say 3-4K with parts plus another 1K in labor.

Since you need opinions from the whole spectrum of car enthusiasts I'll tell you what I think. I would actually pay someone to convert my car back to LHD if needed. In other words, no matter how popular it gets I would never convert my car to RHD, I'm just used to being on the left side.

But, just look at how much people are paying to do K swaps. If RHD does become more popular than it already is, it doesn't matter how much you charge. There are people out there that will pay anything to have it done.

I don't think anyone really knows how much work is really involved in a correctly done RHD conversion.

Correctly done RHD conversions Require the engine, Dash, fenders, bumper, hood, carpet, all wiring and plastic outside the firewall and inside, heater core, cross member, suspension, steering rack, windshield and more to be pulled out of the car in order to swap the firewall correctly.....this can take hours upon hours of labor to do.....not to mention putting everything back and in running condition.

We let customers know that if they want to save money they can take the stuff out of the car and bring the car in with the front half as a shell with just the steering and suspension. We will then take out the windshield and start the conversion.

this process alone with taking the firewall out of the donor clip with out damaging it and installing it into the car takes at least 40 hours.....we install the new rack and sub frame, steering wheel, and suspension with windshield and give it back to the customer to install everything else.....That is if they want to save money and do the part themselves.......

We offer to do everything but people don't like to hear the price on that.....

You really have to want the conversion to pay the money to have it done or you have to try and do it yourself if you have the tools and know how.....

you would need to have A LOT of time to make a one man business out of RHD swaps. i've seen your posts E.Honda, you and i (and everyone here) know that it's a shitload of work to put in...

are you planning on quitting your day job or something? what happens if you get more than 1 or 2 orders at once? do you have a shop or what ? (from your other threads it seems like you're out of the garage at home..)

It is a lot of work. I've seen Jeremy and Brandon spending countless hours on the Amseven RHD. I would much rather buy an authentic RHD car.

I realy don't have a day job. I own a couple of businesses that keep the bills paid and require little to no effort by me. Which frees up my time to do what I like. That of course would be to build custom cars. I have a shop that will hold 5 to 6 cars. With this conversion being done and all the trouble shooting solved I think I can do one in a 2 week turn around. Longer of course if I do a wire tuck or paint and engine bay. I have been pretty tedious with this one as I hope to hit some shows this next year.

Thanx for the legit responses.

Have a great day.
