Default B16A2 oil pump faulty already?

Recently, I swapped out my block from a B16A block to a B16A2 block. When I started it, it seemed fine except the timing. I found out the one of the cam gears were off by a few teethmarks so I redid it and set everything to TDC. I started the car up once again and everything seemed fine. I put 3.75 quarts of oil in.

I took it around the block slowly and the oil light came on. Luckily it came on right in front of my driveway so I immediately pulled in my driveway and shut the car off. I checked the oil level and it seemed to be OK.

I pulled off the pan and noticed that there was a bit of debri in the bottom of the oil pan. I'm assuming it was debri from oil ports in the block. I looked at the suction screen and there was a bit of debri in there as well. Little tiny pebbles from a tree I believe, but not small enough to fit through the screen.

I took off the suction tube from my old B16A block and compared the two. The Jspec oil screen seems to be more fine than the US-Spec. I cleaned both out and I'm planning to use the J-Spec tube on the US Block. Hopefully it will work.

Anyway, I was just thinking if it's possible that an oil pump on a B16A2 block could go out this quick. It's sending oil to the motor, but I'm not too sure if the screen was clogged that cause the light to come on.

What are the possibilities? I plan on putting an oil pres. gauge on later tonight but I wanted to hear some thoughts before I go on doing so.

Could a bit of debri on the oil pump tube screen be the cause of the oil light to come on?

How long do oil pumps usually last for?

Thanks in advance.
