ATTN: All Cylinder Head Experts Review this Port work
headwork looks okay - not really a big fan of cutback guides in a street motor, more of a race-only thing IMO. it gives less support for the valve stem so therefore reduced durability/reliability.
cutting the guides seems to be a trick used by head porters with less experience who can't get enough flow out of the port with the guides hanging down - it's a very easy way to get a lil more flow. At least this is true on a 'street' head - many reputable porters cut the guides on race heads.
Some other people will probably chime in with opinions on the port shapes (particularly the change in port entry size/shape), but to me I guess it depends how much you're getting it for. You can always put new guides in...
if you're getting a good deal you might as well try it, it's not like changing the head is too hard. you could throw it on there and dyno it to see what happens...

I thought about the same thing but honestly the iTR see's less than 3k a year. And it is mostly used for the track

true but I dont want to waste my time and money buying a new headgasket, valves, valve springs, retainers, keepers, and a good full radius vlave job. Moreover, I wouldnt want to waste cash retunig it for minimal gains.

who did the head work?</TD></TR></TABLE>
he couldnt rember the name of the Machine Shop off the top of his head (he had the work done like 2 years ago). Sounds sorta ricey but he told me that it is the same machine shop that some famous east coast racer (according to him Fast & Furious was based on him
) uses and recomeded. Ill get the name of the shop next time i see him online.

Im not much of an expert on head porting, but ive heard from many different people the cutting down the valve guide is not good on a daily driven motor, but since you said its mainly a track car, i dont see a problem with that. But another thing that catches my attention, is if you look at the guides in like 2 of the pics, you can see a small burr of metal around where the valves were cut. like i said, im no expert but this cant be good!
Good luck, let us know what happens

Tom won't do it if you told him its a street head ... he'll do it for race only or ask the customer if he wants it done but be forewarned.

Good carbide work looks like this

You can't even tell from the pic that it's been cut with a carbide burr.
Also alot of work done just to leave the most important aspect (VJ) untouched.

yes, DRT headwork works very well, Ralphy uses a really good guy locally, his name is Tommy and he's been doing it for years.
You can read more about DRT is the latest issue of Turbo Magazine, there is a5 page article in there with Ralphy telling everyone how it is. He really is a street racing legend
to Ralphy, he tunes our racecar, and is top notch/2nd to none in this neck of the woods.
here is Ralphy (far right) and Javier (far left) ... me shaking Javier's hand and Roger next to Ralphy ... this was after beating Chris Dye in Street Stock at our hometrack in October.

So DRT is pretty good huh. OK my next question is what type of valves should I run when I get the head? Ive heard a couple stories about stainless steel valves like Rev's and supertech's breaking for no reason so I had a few brands in mind.
I want to run flat faced valves to slightly increase compression. The valves have to be thinner at the stem to increase flow as well. Tell me which I should run and why
Omnipower? (sounds like OEM manufacturing and quality)
Buddyclub? (so far they've sold solid products)
Skunk2? (Had good luck with their past vavetrain)

Maybee he is talking about their valve springs because they are much "stiffer" than other companies.
Also...doesnt pendeho mean dumbass??? No need for name calling.
If he is talking about sk2 valves, then i agree with the terminology of pendeho.
