Default VARY IMPORTANT NEED TO KNOW ASAP!!!!!

My brother got his car towed last week for not having a VIN # on his transmission, the cop said if we brought the receipt to him he'd give us the car back. my brother goes the vary next day to the shop where he bought his motor from they give him a recpity along with the DMV records of that car. Gay *** cop said that it still didn't prove that the transmission wasn't stolen. On top of that the cop had no reason to pull my brother over, he said it was a routine traffic stop because car's have been getting stolen lately around this area, i understand him getting his car towed for the night untill he proved the motor wasn't stolen, but after all this the cop still didn't give his car back even thogh we showed him legal documents, the motor is a 95 GSR motor, what i'v been hearing is that honda didn't start putting a vin tag on the transmission untill 96 or 97 up. Is this ture?

i think yer right on the vin tag theory. there should be a sticker on ot right behind the front tranny mount where it bolts to it. but if theres not to small wholes where u would pop rivet the plate on there then it didnt come with one. good luck dam pigs

Try to get the cop to imply or better yet say your brother stole the tranny, then press charges for harrassment. Or just ask to speak with the cops supervisor (LT. or above) and ask them why the hell they are holding your car when they have no proff that it is stolen, if honda didn't put a VIN plate on that year vehicle then they cant say it has been removed. Good luck let us know what happens.

Well my brother live's in Stockton, which is right now the number 1 city for car's being stolen, mainly honda's and acura's. so the city has issued a permite allowing cops to pull you over and pop your hood if it looks ricey in anyway. its called a courtesy check. I don't blame him for towing the car for the night untill he got proof. but after he proved the motor and transmission wasn't stolen, (showed DMV records and reciept of the car that the motor came out of) he said it still didn't prove the transmission wasn't stolen.

On top of that his actions towards my brother showed a level of racism as well. after towing his car my brother ask the cop how he and his girl friend are going to get home. the cop says walk, thats not my problem. he also didn't not tell my brother he was towing his car all of a sudden a tow truck just appears, and while my brother stood outside in the cold for twenty minutes and waited for the tow truck. the cop didn't let my brother go inside the car even tho it was 50 degrees outside. and him in his GF were in shorts and t-shirts. ( they just went out to get some fast food) but anyways we got this **** on lock down, my cousins a lawyer my uncles a cop my brothers is a Berkley graduate and has a master's degree, we know our rights and were gunna sue the **** outta Stockton PD.

yeah cops are pretty fucked up now days. they had absolutely no reason to pull my brother over too. he wasn't speeding or doing anything wrong the cop just pulled him over and told him to pop his hood..like he knew my brother had a stolen motor! my brother has a APEX world sport exhaust on his civic...soo he couldn't say his exhaust was too loud...because there was a 5.0 with flow masters driving right next to him. soo yeah we have alotta **** on him.

yeah its gay ****.....and there is no evidence showing the it was scrached off as well. the car that this motor was takin out of has been sitting in a junk yard for 8 years!!!! since 97! i'm not sure if they can link up the serial number to the vin or not..because if they can im sure that the cop didn't run the serial number too.....and the longer we wait the bigger the case is going to get.......more time = more money and that means it can't be handled in small claims court! soo Vietblood129 if you don't wanna take the to the suprime court level...then you better get on the ball as well! once it's the coast is over 5g's its gunna be a bitch!...were almost at this level because we are adding in the money that were losing by not having this car.

Same **** happened to me but my car didnt get towed. He claimed that i intentionaly removed the sticker on the tranny so that they couldnt vin it. I just stayed shut and asked to speak to his supervisor which was a cool guy that pulled me to the side and asked me a few questions then let me go. i do understand the need to vin acuras and hondas due to the HIGH theft rate but sometime cops are just ********. also i wish i was standing in 60* weather try 30*. but it sucks.

damn the cops are ******* ***** over there in cali. same **** happened to 2 different guys within a week, expletive that. they a profiling you guys and descriminating against you. this is illegal. i cant belive that they didn't give back the car after you show them LEGITIMATE proof that your stuff wasnt stolen. that is bullshit. i hope you guys do sue them. this makes me afraid to even drive out there. this is another reason i am glad i dont live on the west coast.
