Im rebuilding an LS and theres a groove where the rear main seal resides. Its a few thousandths deep and dont feel comfy about it not leaking. I know some companies use offset seals but was wondering if any honda builders have used them?
If not I guess Im forced to get the crank welded up and turned

Is the groove on the crankshaft or in the seal bore?

 

The groove is in the crankshaft.....
I didnt measure it but you can catch a fingernail so I know its at least a few thousandths deep....
