Default Setting the timing on Engine. Jumping the SCS connector...?

When jumping the SCS connector with a paper clip should the car be off or idleing at 750 + RPM?

I does not matter if you are jumping to look for codes it will give them either way.

Also does the cars fan really havr to come on or just be a operating temp.?

Not looking for codes, Im setting the timing.So its safe to jump the SCS with a paperclip with the engine running?

Yo dawg it dont matter if you use the paper clip method while you doing your timing. Make sure you do the proper way to time your engine. Either access panel for the flywheel, or the pulley (spinner for me since mines cromed out!). oh and make sure the cel light is on if you want some codes!!!

Jump it while it's idling, and use a timing light to check the marks.
