Default Which cams...

Alright, before we get started, I'm set on getting one of these two sets. I don't wanna hear people saying I need to go stage 2 or higher. All I want is 10+whp for daily driving. I was planning on dropping $200 on a set of 260 regrinds from Delta, but now I found someone who is selling a pair of Crower stage 1 cams for $300. They'll both wield about the same performance gains. Now, everyone I've talked to says Delta cams are very high quality and won't wear out as fast as people say regrinds will. But still. Is it worth the extra $100 for a set of brand new Crower cams?

Well - i KNOW you don't want to hear this; however, there is a set of Skunk2 Stage2 cams on eBay right now - bid is at $303. Might want to take a look at it.

I'd go wth the crowers ONLY bc Ive never heard of Deltas before so I trust their reputation.

Do they both require valvetrain upgrades?

From my understanding - only the stage2+ require a vavletrain upgrade because their powerband is greatly increased - meaning the rev limiter would have to be reset to a higher value; based upon dyno results.

What if you were to leave the stock ecu and rev limiter? Would you still require the valvetrain upgrade? I know you wouldn't be getting the cams' full potential but you could still do that right? I think I remember seeing a long time ago on the crower site the upgrade was RECOMMENDED but not required, now it says required. Possibly to sell more upgrades? A friend of mine has had the stage 2s with stock idle lobes for a few years w/o problems, but he doesn't rev over stock redline.

I'm assuming if you don't rev over the factory limiter - it will be fine. But you won't be satisfied with the factory rev limiter....the powerband with agressive cams is just too stretched.

Those skunk2 stage2 cams sold for $305 - damn what a deal. Oh well. Gone.

why replace your cams for only 10hp? that'd barely be noticable.. It just seems like a bunch of work for only a few ponies on a daily driver... save up, go stage 2 and ugrade valvetrain.. that's just my opinion though
