Putting a Y8 Head on Z6 block
I don't know if anyone has done this but i would prefer some info from people that have done this. I just need to know what parts i have to mix and match. Head gasket....Head studs... manifold gaskets Anything else ETC. Anyone feel free to add.
there isnt much of a diffrence between the z6 and y8 head ,y are you doing this?
but if your going to do this just use everything from the z6
but if your going to do this just use everything from the z6
Well there is a couple reasons. I needed a complete head- 1. this was available for cheap. 2. The Y8 head has 1/8in bigger intake and exaust ports. 3. Roller rockers. 4. Smaller combustion chamber. Thats pretty much it
the y8 doesnt have roller rockers, only the hx y5 does (i believe). man i got a z6 head ive been waiting to put onto my y7, if only we could trade
im running a turbo z6,i port and polished the head with a dremel.its not hard and works like a charm
still say id rather have the z6 head
still say id rather have the z6 head
see i've always heard that the z6 head flows better but the y8 intake mani. flows better thana the z6 part (ive just had hard luck find a y8 manifold), the only thing thats hard to do is tracking down a p28 and finding the time to run vtec. i wrote honda tunning in november on how to put a z6 head on a y7 block (so if anyone needs a refrence turn back to the exhaust notes and read turbo mini-me of that issue)
