Default How much do you guys pay for your steel locally?

I got quoted $2.90USD per foot for 1" 16 gauge RHS tubing, how much do you guys get tubing for?

we use a recycler and its by the pound anywhere form 25-40 cents, new steel is alot more and we hardly ever buy unless we can find it used

I usually pay $1 a pound for new mild steel in most shapes.

where are you getting it this cheap? they have aluminum as well??

I used to pay 0.80 CAN but I moved and now I pay about 1.10 for the same thing there quoting you for. I haen't worked out which is a better tube. For General lengths of standard tubing I pay a dollar to a 1.30 CAN a foot.

Where are you pricing. Sounds Like the Metal Supermarket. I bought there once in a pinch and will never go back!!!!

Also I pay 8.00 a foot for 1"OD 1/2"ID DOM Stock. Thats a bit more then you 2.90 but this stuff in no way is standard. I have a 2 week ordering period in my area to get it!

I just bought sch40 pipe, 1 1/4 diameter for a $6 for 12 inch section. He gave me like 2ft cause he did not want to cut it and he had drops of it.

Your going to have a very hard time getting any good deals without purchasing at least 100-120 ft of the same size tubing from a major supplier. Here is the best source there is at a reasonable cost good delivery on short lengths and good prices on small quantities It is a very busy place so try and know what you want before you call
