Default Florida Intake Questions

ok guys I'll level with you. I have an 02 rsx type s and I lve in pensacola, Fl. Yes the home on Hurricane Ivan. I've read everything possible on intakes I can find on here and on Clubrsx.com. I want the best for gains for my car and I know a CAI will get me there....but with even the slightest rain Our roads still get flooded to where you can't even avoid the puddles. Should I get a CAI and be exceptionally careful or get a SRI. I wanted a AEM V2, but does any other SRI Dyno better than this? help me out guys and give me some feed back!

Best of both worlds. Get an icebox. http://www.comptechusa.com or http://www.kingmotorsports.com

go with the injen CAi, people dont understand that in order for the motor to hydro lock the intake would have to be completely submerged in water, that means that you would have to be in water 1 foot deap or so, which would also mean you would need to carpet and other things

the ice box isnt all that great, its clean and nice, but as far as gains, its not so great... the V2 is a waste of money making almost no more power than a SRi

Is 3-4 hp really worth risking a hydrolocked motor?

Honestly man...this shouldn't even be a choice!

here's my hole thing, pensacola still floods pretty bad and the water puddles are pretty deep some over a 1 foot or 2. Before you all start saying go around them..thats the thing you can't. Whats so bad about the v2 compared to a normal Injen intake? I might just by both CAI and SRI! Let me know about the SRI!!

i know people that do this, in the rainy season they rock the V2 or SRi and non rainy season they use the CAI

I use an AEM Cai now and convert it to an sri in september-nov. its pretty easy to switch it back and forth - takes about 10 mins with a screwdriver.

FWIW on my late GS-R in FL I rocked the V2 all year round. It really takes a deep as puddle to hydrolock it. Also, if your paying attention and can see the puddle coming up, shut the car off in neutral and coast through that puddle and then start the car back up once through it.

untrue that your filter has to be submerged for water to be sucked in. A splash of water during any bit of throttle will suck in water. And if the amount is large enough which is not that much, your engine will suffer.
