99 Prelude bottom with 93-95 Head swap questions (N/A)
Hello all. I recieved a Prelude block from a 5th gen with supposedly only 3k on it. I bought it right from Honda for $500. Now I am going to take it to the machine shop to get it looked over, magnaflux etc, just incase. I'm prolly just going to use the stock internals if all is well. I want to go ALL MOTOR. The Prelude is heavy in general and I am just looking for a 13 sec ride. Doesn't have to be a flat 13 either. But yea I was going to send my head out to get machined and I read some where that I will have to use 97-01 cams in my 93-95 head if I want it to be like the 5th gen? Kinda confuses me. I wasn't sure about that. Could some one sum up what I must change over to use the 99 H22A4 block successfully with my obd1 93-95 H22a1 head? Any and all help would be appreciated. Also any help with what parts to go with since I'm doign ALL MOTOR would be a plus too. I have lots of parts in the gerage from my other H22 swap. Like DC headers (which I don't think would be smart to use for my N/A project) MSD parts, Crower Stage 1 cams, AEM cam gears etc. Just looking for a few more brain cells while tackling this project, haha. O and I was going to continue to use a H23 tranny with this project b/c my 1 H23 tranny runs hard with the H22a1 motor I have, but I guess I should go LSD, so there for should use a MB24, tranny. Thanks in advance to EVERYONE for there help and opinion.
you read wrong about the cams
the block will work as is with the head
msd parts are a waste except spark plug wires
you will need a good header and some lightening to hit 13s, thats with the lsd, definitely get the lsd trans....and its gonna be high high 13s if you have all stock internals....
oh and please space out your posts a little bit...its hard to read like that

hey thanks for the reply. Well i was thinking about just keeping the bottom stock unless I get Type S pistons. I read that the stock rods are good for 400 HP and well going NA I most likely will be in the low 200whp mark, so I should be good.
Now for the HEAD, I am going to have a angle valve job, Port and polish and new internals so I should be ok there.
I just made a deal for a LSD trans this am so I will have that.
Also currently I have a chipped Ecu revving out at 8500, V-AFC , INJEN CAI, Full MSD system; wires, box, coil (I know what you mean about it not being worth it, but I already have it) , DC Headers (for now) Magnaflow 2 1/4in cat-back, AEM cam gears, AEM pulleys and that's about it so far.
Also, I'm going to be buying a Skunk2 Intake manifold and Skunk2 TB in about 2 wks.
I should have posted more about what I had so it could have given everyone a better idea.
