Why we hate certain new coilovers that have become popular...
This may strike many of you as a shock as I know many run these, but we at Truehonda hate these brands. There is one small reason for this as well. The people who sell these or claim to "manufacter" them are no more than importers. The products are all made in one factory and are rebaged per order. The spring rates change but the shock body does not. Here are the biggest problems:
1. No R&D to mach spring and shock. Different spring rates with same shock aspects
2. Use of multigrade oil instead of mono grade for better shock performance and oil cooling.
3. claims of 36 way adjustability have 2 problems. 1, it is actually infinite adjustable since there are not 36 clicks. As well, due to poor manufacturing, some units come with different ranges of adjustbilitites. So it could be 36, 12, 18 who knows. The poor needle design of the adjuster can get stuck if it is set at full hard. Problem 2: With a monotube design, you can only adjust 2 way (each adjustment changes rebound and compression). They claim "36 WAY adjustable" which is wrong. Its 36 level adjustable which is BS as seen in previous point.
4. BIGGEST PROBLEM: No R&D = NO SHOCK DYNO. No way to test these products
longevity, compression rates, rebound rates, how much they differ etc. Please dont call yourself a "road race based coilover" when the stuff hasnt once been analyzed technically on the track or dyno
Again, no names will be named at all of who these companies are and what they do. They just know that they are not going to be sold by us to you guys the racer. Its not a plug for us and not a bad one for them. Just some info on what you guys are buying at different prices.

I see that you sell Omnipower. Correct me if I am wrong, but Omnipower is also made in Taiwan. On the omnipower website, they niether claim nor state where their products are manufactured. So why do you sell omnipower?
Stop being bias.
Let the people buy whatever they want.
In addition, I havn't read anything breaking in those horrible(sarcastic) purple/orange coilovers but I have heard about omni's breaking. Just my couple of my pennies.

thats why we are not naming names. I cant say anything about the omni's becuase we are not reffering to them. Putting out info for the public to see. Just because products are made in Taiwan doesnt mean anything. Omni's are on our site becuase our web developer has not taken them off yet just so you know.

hahahah thanks for my daily laugh.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I don't get whats funny about something that makes you guys look hypocritical...
Also, there is nothing in this thread that hasn't been discussed 1000 times before. Kids are still gonna buy crappy coil-overs because they're cheap and blingtastic. Thats just what they do...

Its true. thats why we are trying to cater to the real competitors on H-T. As you can see, we did remove our omni's so we are not being hypocritical of our words. In general, it was just a rant
and discussion. Since most of you agree, there is no need to discuss.
Thanks,

I think the whole point is to do your homework. Mods usually aren't cheap, and you should probably know what you are spending all your hard earned money on.
Most of the time its tough to get any factual evidence that one product is beter than another, or even begin to understand what makes one thing better than another. But when that information is out there and available to read, you should be all over that (as a consumer). Because the more you know, the better your final decision will be, and the higher the probability that you will be satisfied with your choice. Instead of "I got x-brand product because Brad, Joe, and xx99CivicRacerDudexx, and their mothers said it was good. Turns out its not quite what I expected, and all of them based their opinions on what they read on the boards, from other members who based THEIR opinion's off of second-hand experience as well. I wish I had my $800+ back."

im with you on that one. I really am searching for decent setup. i myself always luck out when buying products and am mostley satisfied with the purchase ive made.(prolly cuz i reasearch it more than i listen to hear say). im just curious as to what youve found so far that performs well and is not hype.
I dont wanna discuss what we find is good because we will automatically be accused of being biased toward brands. Just take a look at these aspects and try to see what suspension companies have to offer? If they can tell you the specs on their coilovers etc or their making. Its important to know history of the company, its workers, the product, where it sources etc.
Its like when you go out and buy a car. You didnt buy a honda because people said "honda's are the best" and nothing more.
You had research involved:
1. reliability reports (1st hand and second)
2. Trust in where it is made
3. etc.

well im looking at some d2s for the budget. pm me for your thoughts on this. im pretty much content with everything i buy. also this is my daily/drag/autox. yes i do em all not really specializing in any particular one.....
Since I don't normally play in the "bling" side of honda racing I don't know what kind of shocks ya'll are referring to. Tiens? THose seem to be ricerific
Surely not Koni, Ohlins, Penske, Bilstein etc. All of these brand have been proven in many race winning championships. All of my other non Honda race cars run stuff like Bilstien, Koni, Carrera, etc and those shocks have always put us in the winners circle.
Now like I said I am not suprised that there are "bling" brands that are worthless. Just wondering about those "other" brands?
