I browse through here weekly and I am about to join the MSF course. I have done some research about best beginner bikes. I can spend $500-$700 dollars. I hear the Ninja 500 is a awesome beginner bike. I will check some out and talk to some shops. My ? is that how do you REALLY know how good a condition a bike is in. I know very little about bikes. I need to buy a bike very soon (various reasons) and that does not mean I will be riding it until I have mucho practice at the MSF course. Any help? Thanks
Also I just called my local MSF plsce, adn they are booked through June!! Jesus

seriously, based on the money you have to spend, the best thing to do is buy from and individual that you trust. A dual sport may be more affordable and better maintained than a cheap crotch rocket that someone has been stunting on and now trying to unload. Better to learn on too.

But in all honesty, taking someone who has riden before and knows about bikes is your best bet in finding the best bike for u.

I would be leary of any sportbike you bought for $700. The cheapest sportbike you can get would be an EX250 (Ninja 250). You could probably find a decent running one (with questionable bodywork) for around $1200 if you looked hard enough. Otherwise, I've seen some nice EX500s, and CBR600 F2s getting sold between $2100 and $2500. Try checking your local paper or http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/index.php
