Default Check Engine Light

Is there any way to just self diagnose a 02 SI to find out which check engine light code you have without using a scanner, I know in some of the other civics there is a plug that you can use a jumper on and turn the key on and it will just flash to tell you the code

I don't think the newer civics have that option. You can take it up to Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts and they'll check it for free.

for some reason i recall reading a post here on H-T that explains how to self-diagnose.
it had something to do with counting how many times the CEL blinks.... kinda like Morse Code.... 4 hondas.
hope that helped.
