Default Intake Manifold Question...

This may seem like a stupid idea lol but here it is anyways. Would there be any gains or reasons to create an equal length runner intake manifold? Would there be any gains on either a NA or FI car? Use a merge collector the opposite way and run equal length runners the head?

As i said this might be the most retarded idea ever but it would look sweet lol

Yes, the runners should be equal length. However you also need a plenum to dampen out harmonic oscillations of the moving air.

so is there any way to do this? or you would pretty much have to havea chmaber pre-merge collector type deal?

Look at the design of almost every intake manifold out there. Equal length runners. It isn't a new idea, sorry.

i'm talking about not having a plenum at all though

I've seen pics of what you are talking about. No idea how well it works but i would guess by the lack of other designs like it, that its not that great.

You need to have a plenum. Otherwise the airstream would oscillate like mad and the efficiency would drop.

Isn't there a Mustang with a setup like that. A while back, I saw pics of a Mustang with a wild looking intake manifold setup like that. Wish I could remember where the pics were from.

Since a Mustang has a V8 engine it is completely different. V8 engines usually have a tiny plenum simply because of space constraints.
