Rate My Bead/Weld *Aluminum
This was done at school with no prepwork before or after the weld. This is my first time EVER trying to weld aluminum and I think I took to it fairly quickly. I ran out of peices to weld once i was done with this plate so I couldn't practice anything else.
I'm going to pick up some more peices and learn to edge weld and then fab my first battery box and go from there. Wish me luck

I am using a Miller Syncrowave, not sure what model (number) but is looks most like the 350 except that it doesn't use a pedal, gas is controlled on the torch body. Very large unit.
To be totally honest, I'm better at aluminum (from what I've done) than I am at steel lol......could be a good thing once I get done with school. I was pretty good at gas welding so I think that helped alot when I started TIG.
I love to weld...like when I lifted my mask and saw that bead, I just got hit with a good feeling of accomplishment.

Im also likin' that #2. Seems nice and consistant. Are you going to use filler for doing the outside corners on that battery box your gonna fab? Or do you think you'll be able to butt the ends together and fuse the panels?
TIG is such a bitch, great job. I have trouble just laying down a bead of steel with TIG, i would say its very similar in technique to gas welding. I think its tricky trying to feed the filler and maintain consistency, great job.
#2 is the nicest looking out of them all, but I actually like #3 about 3/8" inch inward from where you started on the right. That looks to be a stronger, more penetrating weld than #2.

I like a taller (not tall as in too cold ) bead that you can see the "coin" pattern.
