what rpm should a stock d16y7 be idling at??

mine is at 1500 right now, and that seems to high, while my buddies SI idles at around 780

yep mine sits at 750 and then 810 with the lights on..

If your engine is cold, then this is the proper rpm till it warms up to operating temp. If not then check and clean your IACV.

 

it sits at 1500 after it's warmed up...but the thing is i think it could be my tach..

i have a DX and i just have some aftermarket tach installed, i was adjusting the idle and got it up to 2000 when it was like cranked until that little screw was almost falling out

but when i tighened it the other way until i couldnt anymore, it was just under 1500, do u think it's just my tach?

Depends how you wired it, it sounds like an iacv problem. You should know when it idles at 750 you can barely hear it, so if it is at 1500 clean your iacv. Here's a good read on that.

having an issue with my idle aswell. Popping code for P0505 which is IACV. Replaced that twice, still didnt fix my issue. I popped 2 codes for P0505 and a code for bank 1 sensor(downstream) low input. So I replaced my downstream O2 sensor hoping it would fix my issue(replaced upstream aswell) still popping a code for P0505. At this point I'm starting to believe I have a small vac leak somewhere in one of the hosses.. I also adjusted the idle screw still didnt fix my issue.
