I am a performance dieseltruck tech,today a valued customer brought in his sports car (09/01 S2000) with a hungry # 1 cyl. I am looking for some info on this problem,is it common and if so can anyone give me some pointers on it.

more likely the piston hit the valve.

 

Is this a over rev prob?

 

if the piston hit the valve, then it was over rev. i can't tell just from knowing cylinder is bad

 

It's common to mis-shift the S2000 and over-rev, which could result in sucking up a couple valves...I think we all know someone who's done it at least once

 

I removed the head and found only one valve broken off at stem and if this was a over rev prob wouldnt all the valves have been struck or atleased have some witness markes on them?To me (not a import specailist) it looks like the valve stem was fatiuged near the neck and the head simply snaped? Does this make sense?
